Some bloggers start with the intention of sharing their views and ideas with the world. Some bloggers begin with the realization that blogging could be a way to make money. No matter what your path, there comes a time when you decide this is the time to monetize your blog.
Before you begin to monetize your website, there are some things you should consider. Don’t expect to get immediate results. Some bloggers don’t make any money for at least a year, if they don’t quit before that ever happens. But, don’t be discouraged.
To get the results you want, there are important ideas to keep in mind. To make money from your your blog, you need traffic. Without traffic, you won’t be able to make money with your blog. As I wrote in my last article: “HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR BLOG”. Click here for that article, The best way to promote your blog and get the traffic you need to monetize your blog, is with great content. Writing content that is relevant and helpful to your audience is the most important tool you can use to promote, drive traffic to and then to monetize your blog.
Things to do before you monetize your website:
1. Create your your website. 2. Write great content. 3. Do SEO to drive traffic. 4. Use social media to grow your audience. 5. Build an email list. 6. Develop a loyal readership.
Audience always comes first, then monetization!
Now that you’ve done the ground work, let’s make some money!
How to Monetize Your Blog in 5 Easy Ways
1. Google AdSense:
One of the easiest ways, and probably the way a lot of bloggers choose to monetize their blog is with display advertisements. Google Adsense is usually their first choice. You place ads throughout your site and collect revenue each time someone clicks on that ad. All you do to do is set up an account with Google and connect it to your website.
Make sure the ads relate to your audience’s interests. If your blog is about Travel, your target audience probably won’t click on ads with parenting advice. You’d want to pick ads that promote travel .
2. Affiliate Marketing:
The possibilities are endless. You can promote physical products, digital products, services provided by another company, your own services. If something can be sold, it can be promoted through affiliate marketing. The great thing is: You don’t have to create the product, you don’t have to stock or ship the product, you don’t have to collect payment for the product and you don’t have to deal with customer complaints or returns. Your job is to market the product.
To make sure your affiliate marketing is well received, follow these rules:
Disclose any relationships you have with the affiliate marketer whose product you are promoting and disclose any links you have on your page. Make sure the products you promote are related to the type of blog you have and the products will be of value to your audience. And never promote a product that you haven’t used or thoroughly checked out.
You can choose to promote products with companies that have affiliate programs. Some companies that have affiliate programs are: Amazon, Target, Walmart, Home Depot and others. I have written an article about: “HOW TO PROMOTE PRODUCTS WITH COMPANIES THAT HAVE AFFILIATE PROGRAMS”. Click here for that article.
You can promote products through Affiliate Networks, such as: Clickbank, Shareasale, Commission Junction, etc. I have written an article about: “HOW TO PROMOTE PRODUCTS WITH AFFILIATE NETWORKS”. Click here for that article.
3. Selling Your Own Products or Services:
You can create products and promote them to your audience:
E-guides, e-books, and audiobooks:
if you are an expert on a subject, put your expertise to use in a book and sell it. You don’t need to send them to print, distribute your ebooks in digital form. You can also turn your e-guide into an audiobook. Audiobooks are very popular. They offer users the convenience of listening to a book in the car, while working out, or from anywhere they like.
Online courses:
Customers are looking for ways to learn new skills. Position yourself as an authority in your field. Using your knowledge on the subject and materials that you have previously gathered, you can create your online course.
Build an app or extension:
An application can extend the reach of your website. For instance, if you run a fitness website, adding a workout tracking app can increase your earnings.
Sell merchandise:
Blog owners and content creators can also make money by selling merchandise. Selling products via your blog is one of the absolute best ways you can turn your loyal audience into a consistent revenue stream
4. Buy and selling domain names, flipping established websites.
I have written an article about: “HOW TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE BUYING AND SELLING DOMAINS”. Click here for that article.
If you have an established website you could sell that or if you own a domain, you could build a website and then sell it or you could buy from a site that sells established websites, improve it then sell it.
5. Online coaching:
Share your unique skills, knowledge or ability in your area of expertise. There are many people that would appreciate the guidance of someone with experience in a field they are trying to master. Just think! There are probably many would-be clients out there waiting for the opportunity to talk to someone with your experience.
